Lady Gaga Remembers Whitney Houston With Heartfelt Tribute

Even though Lady Gaga must be super-psyched to perform at this year’s Grammy Awards, she’s also reminded of a tragedy that shook the music world around this time three years ago.

Gaga took to Instagram on Thursday (January 29) to share a heartfelt tribute to Whitney Houston, who died on February 11, 2012, one day before the 54th annual Grammy Awards.

“Every year around the Grammys I think about Whitney,” Gaga captioned the pic. “Her legendary voice, the sparkle of her eyes in the spotlight, a genuine compassionate spirit. I miss her all the time and wonder why she’s gone. A good time to remember to treat women and all artists with care. She gave us so much, what did we give her?”
This isn’t the first time Gaga has praised the late singer. At the 2011 Grammys, Gaga thanked Houston while accepting her award for Best Pop Vocal Album for The Fame Monster.
“I need to say thank you tonight to Whitney Houston,” Gaga said. “I wanted to thank Whitney because when I wrote ‘Born This Way,’ I imagined she was singing it because I wasn’t secure enough in myself to imagine I was a superstar. So, Whitney, I imagined you were singing ‘Born This Way’ when I wrote it. Thank you.”

Tony Bennett And Lady Gaga Surprised A School in NYC

Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga surprised over 700 high school students at Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in New York City on the last day of school by making an appearance on site Monday morning. Founded by Bennett in his hometown of Astoria, the school normally hosts the singer for graduation, but this year, due to his tour schedule, he is unable to join. Instead, he decided to do something special for the last day of classes, so he asked his good friend and collaborator Lady Gaga to join him for a master class in the school’s Tony Bennett Concert Hall.

The two talked about jazz music, The Great American Songbook, creativity and also fielded questions from the students. Then Tony Bennett performed the classic “The Very Thought of You” followed by Lady Gaga’s beautiful version of “Every Time We Say Goodbye.” In a spontaneous and playful moment, the two began to serenade each other with the standard “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love.” Gaga then added in a cheek to cheek slow dance.
“When I first heard Gaga sing my reaction was that she is going to be bigger than Elvis. She is so bright and intelligent and she has it. In jazz you either got it, the syncopation, the rhythm or you don’t, and when I heard Gaga I said she’s got it!”
Gaga talked about the wonderful experience she always has when she sings with Tony, saying, “When I am with Tony I feel like I am 15 years old at home listening to Ella and Coltrane records. The way he sings is effortless and so prolific. It’s so liberating to be able to sing jazz, especially at this point in my career!” In response to Tony’s comment “these songs are so timeless,” Gaga joked: “Like a good black dress, they never go out of style.”
The event ended with student choirs performing a rendition of Tony Bennett’s “Smile” and Lady Gaga’s “Applause.”

Lady Gaga introduces fans to new pet BATPIG

Lady Gaga has introduced her fans to her french bulldog, BATPIG.

The 'G.U.Y' hitmaker posted an image of the new addition to her family on Twitter on Sunday, April 27 which shows the adorable black pooch, who is sitting on her legs, staring into the camera while the pair of them are in a car.

She added the caption: ''Me and my BATPIG #partBAT #partPIG (sic)''

Following this she put an Instagram video up where she gave her cute pet a name.

She explained: ''Her name is Asia. She is a BATPIG. I love her I'm her mum.''

This comes after the 'Alejandro' singer lost her childhood dog, Alice, who was battling cancer, in October last year.

She previously wrote online: ''My puppy Alice died. We had to put her down, cancer ate away at a little angel. My daddy is so sad, we all are, lost a member of our family.

''I just pray Alice found her wonderland.''

Following the tragic incident Gaga wore all black during her time in London in tribute to the late pooch and explained how difficult she was finding being away from home during the difficult period.

She added: ''I love being an entertainer but it is so painful sometimes to be away from home, 17 years she held on, so many memories.''

See Stars With Lady Gaga's Favourite Sunglasses

So it’s getting sunny and you’ve just sat on last summer’s sunnies. Fear not, shiny spectacle hunters, we’ve taken a leaf out of Lady Gaga’s book and thrown our lot in with these crazy kaleidoscope sunglasses by H0les that use chandelier glass for lenses and super cool designs for frames to create these zany designs that have got Germanotta herself bulk buying.

Designed by Pam Tietze who aims to “evoke the feeling of being a tourist in your own reality”, the glasses throw up crazy multi image views of what’s in front of you. Tietze started making them for friends after going into a shop and becoming entranced by the glass crystals that make up chandeliers.  Gaga commissioned her to make a whole bunch for her accessories wardrobe, before creating them for public consumption.

Embrace your colourful side with these visually entrancing goggles, perfect for festivals, hazy summer days and if you’re up for a laugh, going to work on the bus.
